A New Capital Plan for the city
The three year capital plan I am introducing will will fund money for improvements to the citizen's center, city hall and several fire stations, improve the walkway at the high school, fix the parking lot and driveway at the Consentino school, and contains money for a new dog park at Riverside Park.
The capital plan contains design or seed money to improve two gateways to the city-- Water street and upper Broadway and has money to extend the rail trail in Bradford.
Along Water Street, a year ago we spent a small amount of money to remove some trees and open up the view of the river. This would have design money make that a State project so that someday Water street could be a greenway, with a beautiful vista of the river, walking trails, bike paths, benches and places to stop and see the waterfront.
Along Broadway, in the area for the entranceway to Target to the Lake Street, this would add design money so that someday we would have sidewalks, street trees and a better designed roadway.
In Bradford, this plan seeks money to extend the rail trail to the playground next to the Yacht Club.
Together, these plans will improve the views of our city.
Mayor Jim Fiorentini
UPDATE: On December 10, 2013, the capital plan was approved by the city council on a 9-0 vote.
