Historic House Plaques
Interested in plaques for Historic Houses in Haverhill?
Many historic buildings and homes in Haverhill have Historic House plaques, organized in the past by local historic districts, volunteers, etc.
The Haverhill Historical Commission designed the unique sign template below to provide a unifying image that can be used city-wide to denote our wealth of historic properties.
The City of Haverhill allows a permanent, non-illuminated sign that identifies a historically significant building to be placed on buildings without requiring a sign permit.
All buildings 75 years or older are considered historic.
How do I get my Historic House plaque?
Step 1
Find your house name and date of construction: generally, the name of first occupants of the house and year built, as well as occupation/architect etc. can be on your historic house plaque, bottom line is for your neighborhood (i.e. Ayer’s village) or existing historic district (Rock’s Village).
For example:
- Arthur Read
- Shoe Superintendent
- 1894
- Highlands
