Current City Openings

Recycling Attendant (Part Time)
$18-$20 per hour Wednesday (7 hours) and additional hours available on other days as needed by department. 
Attendant is responsible for opening and closing the site, screening material brought to the site for acceptability and keeping the loading platform areas free from debris. 

MEO Repairer (Mechanic)

Full Time (40 hours per week) $25.58-$28.54 per hour

Perform skilled diagnostic, repair and maintenance including tune ups, overhauls and rebuilds of vehicles and equipment assigned to department. 

 

Library Technical Assistant

$797.28-$924.38 per week 40 hrs/week

Will split time between the Technical Services Department and the Circulation Department, with some time spent at Youth Services and other areas as needed. 

Water Treatment Plant Chemist

$1530.22 - $1640.62 per week (for hires after 7/1/2010)
$1580.00 - $1694.00 per week (for hires on or before 7/1/2010)

Mon-Fri 7am-3pm (40 hours per week)
The water treatment plant chemist performs all duties related to the operation and management of the water treatment plant laboratory.

Water Meter Tech 1

$24.91-$26.19 per hour 

Mon-Fri 7am-3pm (40 hours per week)
The Meter Technician I is an entry-level position in the Water Division responsible for assisting with the inspection, maintenance, replacement, and support of water meters and related equipment.

MEO B&G

$25.28-$29.67 per hour

Mon-Fri 7am-3pm (40 hours per week)
Under supervision, operate trucks transporting tools, supplies and materials to water construction crews; backfilling and hot topping or cold patching trenches and performing laborer duties which include loading and unloading trucks, including pick and shovel. 

Water Meter Tech 2

$23.94-$28.25 per hour

Mon-Fri 7am-3pm (40 hours per week)
The Water Meter Technician 2 will read meters throughout the City of Haverhill and assure that water meters are read and recorded accurately.

 

 

 

 

Housing Rehabilitation Specialist

$1,063.05-$1,138.77 (eff 7/1/26) per week 35 hrs/week

Coordinate with municipal Code officials, as needed and required: perform progress reports and final inspections on projects. 

Assistant Supervisor

$16-$18 per hour (Not eligible for benefits) Part Time up to 19.5 hours/week

Open and close The School Age Programs as needed. Coordinate and implement daily activities. Plan monthly themed programs. Assist with program planning. Assist with behavior problems or other assistance as needed during program hours.

School Age Site Coordinator  (Part Time)

$23.00 per hour (Not eligible for benefits)

Assist Program Coordinator (Director of School Age Programs) and provide support as needed.  Meet weekly with the Program Coordinator and keep Coordinator advised of all situations.

 

 

 

Maintenance Mechanic Helper

Full Time (40 hours per week) $22.29-$27.23 per hour

Participates in the overhaul, repair, testing, maintenance and operation of a wide variety of mechanical equipment in a large activated sludge wastewater treatment plant; performs related work as required. 

Motor Equipment Operator/Laborer

Full Time (40 hours per week) $22.29-$27.23 per hour

Performs light to heavy manual tasks requiring some specialized skill or knowledge and operates light, medium, heavy or specialized automotive equipment used in the operation, maintenance, construction and repair of the City of Haverhill's wastewater and storm water collection systems and related facilities.

The Interview Process

Applications will be accepted through the closing date.  Once the position has closed, all completed applications will be reviewed by the department in a timely manner.  Only those applicants selected will continue in the interview process.  This could result in one or more interviews.  Notices will be sent to those non-selected after the interview process is complete.
