Global Kickoff brings soccer to the lawn at Harbor Place and encourages the community to support participating restaurants

Haverhill, MA — The City of Haverhill introduces “Global Kickoff,” an initiative to bring Haverhill residents and visitors together to celebrate soccer with an outdoor screening on June 19th and a Citywide calendar of events throughout the World Cup season. 

On June 19th, the lawn at Harbor Place, 2 Merrimack Street, will be host to an outdoor, public screening event airing three matches. The matches to be shown will be USA vs. Australia at 3pm, Scotland vs. Morocco at 6pm and Brazil vs. Haiti at 8pm. This is a free, all ages, family friendly event. The restaurants and patios at Barrio and On the Corner Grill will be open. Attendees are also welcome to set up a lawn chair or blanket and watch from the grass. To engage the young ones, Lil’ Kickers and Haverhill Youth Soccer will be set up with activities from 5-6pm. Parking is accessible from the new parking garage across Merrimack Street. 

Additionally, the Global Kickoff calendar highlights Haverhill restaurants and bars hosting World Cup matches. Participants include The Peddler’s Daughter, The Tap, The Hill, Casa Blanca, Barrio, Azul and Afro-Infused.
