Lead exposure can cause lifelong health problems. Children up to 6 years old are more likely to be exposed to lead due to their hand-to-mouth behavior. The City’s Lead Hazard Reduction Program offers financial assistance to reduce lead hazards in your home.

• Our program is available to Haverhill homeowners and landlords of one to four-unit houses (built before1978), where a child under 6 years old lives or spends significant time.

• If after 3 years all terms and conditions* of the lead removal loan are met, the loan does NOT need to be repaid

  *Terms and conditions include satisfying applicable federal regulations and achieving Full Deleading Compliance according to the MA Lead Law. For landlords, terms and conditions include but not limited to prioritizing families with young children when renting newly deleaded apartments.
