Mission Statement:
The purpose of the Haverhill Cultural Council (HCC) shall be to meet to plan and produce community arts programming, to act as artistic and/or aesthetic advisor to the City and to the Mayor and the City Council and to attract and apply for such funds, public and private, as may be forthcoming.
Members of the Council shall be drawn from a reservoir of interested citizens represented in the arts community and the business sector. Members must be residents of the City of Haverhill.
The Haverhill Cultural Council is part of the Massachusetts Cultural Council's Local Cultural Council (LCC) Program which is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, humanities, and sciences annually. Each year statewide, local councils award more than $2 million in grants to more than 5,000 cultural programs statewide. The program promotes the availability of rich cultural experiences for every Massachusetts citizen. This year, the Haverhill Cultural Council is granting $29,110 to local artists and performers as part of its LCC program.
The HCC also programs local music and art events for Haverhill through MCC grants and money raised through its own fundraising. In the past, we have participated in River Ruckus, successfully provided the music series "Make Some Noise" for several years in downtown Haverhill and have held fundraisers and auctions to promote our activities.
