Wastewater Treatment Facility Odor Control
In a continuing effort to support a more sustainable Commonwealth, $8.1 million in grants, through the Gap Energy Grant Program, were announced to help water facilities, non-profits and small businesses reduce energy use, increase energy efficiency, and generate renewable energy.
The City of Haverhill was awarded a $26,484 state Gap grant, which was combined with a matching National Grid incentives for energy efficiency to complete the installation of two Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) on the odor control fan motors at the South Mill Street Pump Station and the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Also, interior and exterior lighting upgrades were completed at the Mill Street Pump Station. By reducing the electricity usage by 127,444 kilowatt hours, the city is saving approximately $31,861 annually.
