CSO Public Notification
The City of Haverhill has prepared and submitted a Revised Final Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Public Notification Plan to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP).
Written comments can be submitted until May 7, 2024. This is a period of 30 days after the date of publication in the Environmental Monitor. Submit written comments to MassDEP by email (preferred) to massdep.sewagenotification@mass.gov or by mail to 100 Cambridge St, Suite 900 Boston, MA 02114. CSO discharges consist, or likely consist, of untreated or partially treated sewage and waste. Public health officials recommend avoiding contact with water bodies during rainstorms and for 48 hours afterward, as there may be increased health risks due to bacteria or other pollutants associated with urban stormwater runoff or discharges of untreated or partially treated wastewater.
